Significant Gas Reserves Discovered in Sindh: OGDC

The joint venture of Khewari Block compromising of Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) as operator (95%) & Government holdings Private Ltd (5% carried) has made a significant gas discovery at the exploratory well Chabaro #1, located in district Khairpur (Sindh).

The structure of Chabaro #01 was delineated and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise. The well was drilled down to the depth of 3674 M, revealed Company Secretary Ahmed Hayat Lak.

The well has 15.10 MMSCFD of gas and is capable of producing 20 Barrels per day of condensate through a 32/64’’ choke at Well Head Flowing Pressure 3000 Psi from Lower Goru (massive sand) formation.

The discovery of Chabaro #1 is the result of an aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company. It has opened up new avenues and will contribute significantly to the hydrocarbon reserves of OGDCL and the country.

OGDCL is the national oil & gas company of Pakistan and the flagship of the country’s E&P sector. It is the local market leader in terms of reserves, production and acreage.

OGDCL operates 47 Oil & Gas fields across the country and has 18 Oil and Gas processing plants. These include Dehydration, LPG, Sulphur Recovery, H2S Removal, Gas Sweetening, Condensate Stabilization, Refining and Compression plants.
