Realme has announced that it is pausing new product development in China as the company shifts its focus almost entirely to overseas markets. The decision marks a major change in the smartphone brand’s strategy as it redirects resources toward international growth.
The announcement was made through an official statement from Realme. According to the company, future product launches and updates will primarily target global users instead of the Chinese market.
Realme said it will “press the pause button” on its operations in China after carefully evaluating its business strategy. The company plans to concentrate its resources on overseas markets, with a stronger focus on performance- and gaming-oriented smartphones. The move is intended to strengthen Realme’s position outside its home market.
The company also stressed that the decision does not mean it is abandoning existing customers in China.
Realme confirmed that current users in China will continue to receive after-sales services, software updates, and warranty support. These services will now be handled by Oppo, ensuring that existing devices remain supported despite the pause in new product development.
The move comes as Oppo reorganizes the roles of its smartphone brands. According to reports, Realme will now focus on overseas markets, while OnePlus will concentrate more on China. OnePlus will continue providing software updates for users in India, but is pausing new product launches in Europe and North America as part of the broader restructuring.
The changes are aimed at allowing each brand to focus on different markets instead of competing for the same customers.
