Heavy rain affected the main roads and thoroughfares of areas including MA Jinnah Road, Gurumander Road, Numaish, Jahangir Road, Kashmir Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, and Sher Shah Suri.

The inundated roads resulted in traffic jams as a lot of vehicles broke down in the middle of the road in several areas. The rainwater merged with sewage and entered the houses of low-lying areas, causing a great deal of difficulty for them.

Cattle Market Destroyed

Additionally, the heavy rain and gusty winds destroyed one of the biggest markets of sacrificial animals in the Sohrab Goth neighborhood.

“The sanitation system has collapsed in the city as the storm drains have been encroached upon. How can one expect tangible results”, said Dr. Zakir Qaimkhani, a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
