19 Injured in New Year Eve Celebratory Firing in Karachi

People in Karachi took New Year’s celebration too far as as many as 19 people were injured as a result of aerial firing during the New Year celebrations. One woman was also among the injured individuals.

Violation of Rules

People clearly violated orders issued by government of Sindh as they opted for aerial firing to celebrate the event. Sindh government previously told media that no roads will be blocked during the New Year’s Eve while advising police to implement section 144. The CM further advised police to take action against those involved in one-wheeling and riding bikes without silencers.

Sindh Minister and Home Minister directed police to take stern action against those involved in aerial firing. Most of the celebrations involving aerial firing were in Nazimabad area of Karachi. Wounded men and woman were taken to the nearest hospitals quickly.

This isn’t the first time that people have got injured from aerial firing on New Years. Last year, 17 people were reportedly injured due to aerial firing during the New Year’s celebrations. Yet again, the government failed to control the menace of aerial firing as misuse of guns continues to harm innocent bystanders.
