Kamran Akmal Scores a Double Hundred in Domestic One-Day Match

Kamran Akmal is in red-hot form this season as he shattered some records on his way to score a double ton. It took Akmal just 147 balls to reach his double century guiding WAPDA to a massive run chase.

The list-A match between WAPDA and HBL was being played at Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad. HBL chose to bat first after winning the toss.

The batting first team posted a massive total of 314 runs on scorecard in hopes to hold WAPDA back. However, Kamran didn’t let the huge target get on his nerves as he seemed in control from the start.

The opener completed 200 runs from 147 balls before getting stumped out on 148th. Kamran Akmal hit 27 boundaries and four sixes to get to his double century.

On the other hand, Umar Akmal is also proving his worth and hoping for selection. He now has two back-to-back half centuries for UBL.

WAPDA completed the target in 46th over with 7 wickets to spare. Kamran Akmal is only the third Pakistani to score a double century in list-A cricket.

Statistics behind the Innings

Kamran Akmal matched several local and international records when he scored 200 yesterday. The key stats include;

  • Third Pakistani to score double century in List-A cricket. Before him, Muhammad Ali and Khalid Latif are only two other batsmen to achieve the feat. Ali scored 207 playing for Pakistan customs against DHA in Sialkot. Latif went unbeaten in his innings of 204 against Quetta for Karachi in 2009.
  • Akmal became second quickest Pakistani to score 200. Overall he jointly shares the record with legendary Sachin Tendulker at the 11th
  • With 27 boundaries, Akmal holds the record of scoring most boundaries in a List-A match in Pakistan. Overall, he is 6th on the list of most boundaries scored in a domestic match.

Kamran Akmal has surely made his case for selectors to get him in the team. In the National T20 tournament recently played he was the top scorer with 432 runs in just 8 innings.

He also broke the record of scoring highest runs in a domestic T20 match in Pakistan.

The wicket-keeper batsman scored 150 in a single innings to reach the milestone.
