Kenyan Cricket Team Hires Pakistani Sports Analyst

Cricket Kenya (CK) has hired the services of a senior Pakistani match analyst, Sajid Yasin Hashmi, who previously served for Pakistan Women’s team for 8 years.

Hashmi has been signed on a short-term contract with CK in order to help the national team qualify for the upcoming World Cup in 2019.

Five teams, Canada, Oman, Kenya, UAE, Nepal and hosts Namibia will fight it out for the two slots reserved for the group in the 2019 World Cup qualifier set for Zimbabwe in March.

Hashmi’s primary objective is to ensure that Kenya progress to the qualifying phase.

According to an African journalist:

Hashmi was at the Nairobi Gymkhana on Sunday where he watched the home team fight it out with Stray Lions for this year’s Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) Twenty20 trophy.

Hashmi was accompanied by Stray Lion’s club secretary, who himself was a former match analyst.

Hashmi’s Remarks

Upon being asked regarding his cricket experience, he responded:

My family believed in education, therefore, I did not get chance to play match cricket in my youth. I played club cricket and represented the city of Lahore in domestic games.

Sajid Hashmi talked about his past experience as a match analyst and said:

I was the analyst for Pakistan Women’s team for eight years and served Lahore cricket for seven years.

He also expressed his desire to keep working on the international stage.
