Mobile phones imports witnessed a phenomenal growth of 14.38 percent in the first half (July-December) of 2017-18 as it remained $376.498 million compared to $329.177 million compared to the same period of 2016-17 (July-December).
Mobile phone imports in December 2017 stood at $73.047 million and increased by 12.09 percent, up from $65.168 million imports in December 2016 and increased by 25.41 percent compared to $58.246 million in November 2017, revealed the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Overall telecom imports saw increase of over 12.06 percent during July-December 2017 compared to the same period of last year. Total imports were recorded at $739.618 million during this period compared to $659.991 million in July-December 2016.
Telecom imports came in at $179.287 million and registered a 57.97 percent growth as compared to $113.522 million during November 2017.
Other telecom apparatus imports also witnessed growth of over 9.77 percent in July-December 2017 and stood at $363.498 million against $330.814 million during the same period of last year.
When compared to the November 2017, other telecom apparatus imports registered over 92 percent growth in December.
These imports stood at $106.240 million in December compared to $55.276 million in November 2017.
