The wait is finally over. After all those leaks about the upcoming S8 Lite, Samsung has finally unveiled what it calls the Galaxy S Light Luxury.
As mentioned earlier, the phone was extensively leaked and we know pretty much everything about the phone.
Galaxy S Light Luxury is, in every way, a smaller version of the Galaxy S8. It has the same curved glass display on the front with small bezels, complete with an oddly placed fingerprint sensor next to the back camera.
The display features a 5.8-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ (1080 x 2160) resolution and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

It’s clad in glass on the front/back and also includes an IP 68 water and dust resistance rating. The iris scanner also comes over from the S8, along with Bixby, so that’s a plus.
Here’s where the S Light Luxury differs from the S8. It is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Storage is expandable via a hybrid microSD/second SIM slot.
It runs Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung’s Grace UX skin on top of that.
On the back, the S Light Luxury has a 16 MP f/1.7 sensor with PDAF and a LED flash. Surprisingly, it lacks OIS or any form of stabilization support for the back camera. Up front, it comes with an 8 MP camera with autofocus.
No dual cameras or AI shenanigans this time, unfortunately.
S Light Luxury packs a moderate 3,000 mAh battery and supports fast charging as well as Qi wireless charging.
This phone is only available in China for now and does not come with Google’s Apps (Play Store, YouTube etc). It costs CNY 4,000 (¬Rs. 72,460), which is easily flagship category. Not sure what Samsung is thinking about this phone.
