Nothing has finally launched its long-teased Phone 4b, kicking off a new lineup of budget phones that sit under the A series of phones in terms of pricing.
Phone 4b has only launched in India and Europe for now, but given its popularity and presence of local distributors, it should come to Pakistan soon, too.
The display panel is a 6.77-inch LTPS AMOLED with 1080 x 2344 pixels resolution, which is higher than 1080p, but slightly below 1440p. It can hit 2000 nits of peak brightness, supports a 120Hz refresh rate, and also has 480Hz PWM dimming for flicker-free viewing.
The screen is protected by Dragontail Pro Glass, which is known for its scratch resistance, but does not match the drop resistance seen on Gorilla Glass protection.
The fingerprint sensor underneath this display is of the optical kind, which is a tier below ultrasonic sensors. You also get IP64 protection, which makes the phone dust-tight but only safe against water splashes instead of submergence.
The phone is powered by the budget Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, which is fit for average daily usage, such as social media and messaging, but not the best for more demanding tasks. It should be able to handle gaming just fine if you don’t crank the graphics settings to max.
This is paired with two different UFS 2.2 storage options: 128GB and 256GB, which can be paired with either 8GB or 12GB RAM.
The software side is covered by Nothing OS 4.1 on top of Android 16, which is promised to get software updates for the next three years. Nothing has included all the same software features in Phone 4b as its more premium phones.
The main camera is based on a tiny 50MP Samsung sensor with OIS, which gets the job done in plenty of light, but struggles quite a bit in low light. This is paired with an 8MP ultrawide, which is about what you would expect from a budget phone. Video recording goes up to 4K 30 fps and 1080p 120fps.
The selfie camera is a 16MP sensor sized at 1/3.0″.
The phone’s battery comes in two different sizes for different regions. The Indian variant, as always, gets more battery at 6,000 mAh, while the EU model is limited to 5,200 mAh. Both have support for 33W wired charging and 7.5W reverse wired charging to charge up other devices.
In the EU, the starting price for the Nothing Phone 4b is set at €330, which converts to above Rs. 104,000.
We will be doing another article once the phone arrives in Pakistan, so stay tuned.
