8 PSL 2019 Matches To Be Played In Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the schedule for the 4th edition of the premier T20 tournament Pakistan Super League (PSL) with 8 matches to be played in Pakistan.

The tournament starts on February 14 in Dubai with final scheduled in Karachi on March 17. Karachi will host the grand final for the second year in a row.

PCB has decided to restrict the matches to Lahore and Karachi only, amidst speculations of Rawalpindi and Multan also getting a couple of matches. The extensive security arrangements needed for hosting matches mean that the same two cities will be getting 8 matches divided between them.

The decisions were taken in a governing council meeting headed by PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani. The player retention window will be open till October’s second week and each team has been allowed to retain 10 players with the maximum number of players which can be picked in the draft is 20. Teams can retain only 2 platinum category overseas players while the exact ratio of local and foreign cricketers is not yet decided.

The players which are not retained by the franchises will be available for the drafts.

Broadcasting Rights

The previous broadcasting rights and sponsorship deals were signed for a period of three years. Mani discussed the upcoming season with all the franchises and in a significant development, PCB has decided to take onboard the representatives of all franchises who will be reviewing the bidding processes for sponsors and broadcasting rights, unlike the previous time as Najam Sethi did not keep any franchise in the loop.

PCB’s aim is to ensure transparency and working in partnership with all franchises in order to make PSL a bigger success.

Previously, Najam Sethi was criticized by Multan Sultans for not keeping the franchises onboard in the decision-making process.
