Huawei’s ‘Pakistan Seeds for the Future’ Program Launched in Beijing

Huawei sponsored “Pakistan Seeds for the Future” program launched on 19th Nov 2018 in Beijing. The political Counselor (Political) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to China, Mr.Mohammad Aamir Khan, was the chief guest at the launch ceremony.

In his speech, he highlighted the pivotal role of Huawei in offering the great opportunity of visiting China to the talented ICT students from all over Pakistan.

The students should cherish this opportunity and take excellent memories and knowledge back to Pakistan and contribute to the county’s prosperity.

Mr Zhang Chunxiang, the Vice President of Huawei and the ex-ambassador of China to Pakistan also delivered a speech in Urdu Language. He welcomed the delegation, wished the youth of Pakistan a very bright and a prosperous future. He highlighted that the young generation can raise a deep rooted relationship between the two countires.

The HEC assistant director, Ms.Saima Anwar, student representative Mr.Zubair Ahmed from University of Turbat, Ms. Vneeta from Sindh Madrissatul Islam University also made speeches during the ceremony and thanked Huawei for this great program.

Huawei Seeds for the Future is a global initiative which has been successfully operating since 2008. This is Huawei’s Corporate Social Responsibility flagship program. It is a two-week immersive program based in China. Selected participants spend the initial period in Beijing learning Chinese culture and are given an introduction to the Chinese language.

From Beijing, they are taken to Huawei’s HQ in Shenzhen where they learn about Huawei’s international business culture and are introduced to technical training from some of the finest professionals in the industry.

The program first started in 2015. Since then 45 students have benefited from it.

This is the 4th time seeds for future took place in Pakistan. 10 students (5 females and 5 males) were selected from all over Pakistan for the program. 2 students have been selected from Sindh, 3 from Punjab, 3 from KPK, 1 from Baluchistan and 1 from Islamabad Capital Territory. They are all undergraduate engineering students.

In the two week trip from 16th Nov to 1st Dec in China, the students are going to experience the Chinese culture in Beijing Language and Culture University in this historic city of Beijing and will witness the latest ICT technologies at Huawei Headquarter in the young city of Shenzhen.

Initiative Seeds for future is part of Huawei’s ICT talent Cultivation in Pakistan.ICT talent is mandatory for the development and extension of mainstream industry in a developing country like Pakistan.

The ever-growing ICT industry has changed working models. As a result, across the ICT ecosystem, there is a dire need for a large number of technical staff who can address the challenges posed by this transformation.

For lasting expansion and progress in Pakistan, we must look into training the youth in ICT and human capital development. Huawei will sponsor the entire visit for the students.
