Dr. Shahid Masood Gets Judicial Remand for Snatching Journalist’s Cell Phone

A local court on Tuesday sent senior anchorperson Dr Shahid Masood to jail on judicial remand in a case registered against him for allegedly threatening a journalist and snatching his mobile phone from him during his (Shahid Masood) appearance in Islamabad High Court.

Judicial Magistrate Hafeez Ahmed heard the case against the anchorperson. After expiry of his physical remand, the anchorperson was produced before the court.

An FIR was registered against the anchorperson by a reporter of a private TV channel over alleged threating and snatching his mobile phone by Shahid Masood during coverage of judicial proceeding in Islamabad High Court.

The judge had ordered to arrest Dr Masood in the case.  As the anchorperson was already in the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency in PTV Corruption case, police showed his arrest in the mobile snatching case.

Today Dr Shahid Masood was brought to the court from Adiyala Jail. The judge after hearing arguments of the prosecutor and defence counsel sent the accused to jail on remand.

It is to be mentioned here that the anchorperson is in judicial custody for 14-day in PTV corruption case.

Dr. Shahid Masood is facing charges of irregularities and corruption dating back when he was managing director of the state-run broadcaster.
