Saudi Arabia Allots Two Hours to Differently-Abled for Tawaf of Kaaba

To celebrate the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, Saudi Arabia dedicated the Holy Kaaba and the Prophet (SAW)’s Mosque to people with special abilities for two hours on Monday.

On the occasion, the deputy head of Holy Mosque’s affairs, Mashhour al-Minami said, “the initiative reassures our care for those people who are dear to all of our hearts, and it sheds light on their rights of equality with the rest of the society.”

Individuals with special abilities were taken to Shah Fahad extension where the authorities distributed literature books among them after a comprehensive lecture on Umrah.

The presidency of the Holy Mosque’s affairs, along with the general administration of social services, also dedicated a special prayer room for deaf and mute people in collaboration with the people who specialized in differently-abled people. The individuals were also provided with language translators and teachers.

Moreover, the visually impaired people received white canes that helped them go to their specialized prayer rooms. They were also provided a special suitcase containing books, maps for the Holy site in Braille writing, Quran, and a watch that notified them of prayer timings.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated every 3rd December of a year with a focus on a different issue. This year’s theme was ‘empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.’
