4G Users Continue to Grow as 3G Usage Witnesses a Noticeable Decline

The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan have reached 60.58 million by the end November 2018, stated Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

The number of mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 152.74 million by November compared to 152.16 million by the end of October 2018, registering an increase of 0.58 million during the period under review.

Jazz’s total count for 3G users stood at 14.069 million by November compared to 14.41 million by October, registering a decrease of 0.34 million. Jazz 4G users jumped from 6.114 million in October to 6.58 million in November 2018.

Zong 3G subscribers decreased from 8.75 million in October to 8.66 million by the end of November while the number of 4G users have jumped from 8.91 million by the end of October to 9.32 million at the end of November 2018.

The number of 3G users of Telenor decreased from 9.609 million in October to 9.32 million in November. The number of 4G users jumped from 4.11 million last month to 4.39 million in November.

Ufone added 0.114 million 3G users on its network during the month of November as the total reached 8.217 million compared to 8.103 million in October 2018.

Teledensity for cellular mobile increased to 74.23 when compared to 73.68 percent and broadband subscribers reached 62,771,327 by November compared to 62,171,455 by October 2018.

Complaints to PTA

PTA received 3,196 complaints from telecom consumers against different telecom operators including (cellular operators, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators and ISPs) in November 2018.

According to PTA data, Jazz (Mobilink + Warid) leads the chart with 827 complaints and PTCL stands at the second position as the most complained telecom operator with 780 complaints.

PTA said that it was able to get 3,182 complaints resolved i.e. 99.56 percent.

Cellular mobile subscribers constitute a major part of the overall telecom subscriber base, therefore, a maximum number of complaints belong to this segment. The total number of complaints against CMOs by November 2018 stood at 2,358.

In terms of the segregation of complaints on operator basis, a total of 827 complaints were received against Jazz which is 35.07% of the total CMO related complaints.

Zong stood second with 531 complaints i.e. 21.51 percent of total complaints.

Telenor, which has the second largest number of consumers, was third with 528 i.e. 22.39 percent complaints against it.

Ufone had 472 complaints against which make up 20.01 percent of the total CMO related complaints.
