Nasir Jamshed & Accomplices to Face Spot-Fixing Case in the UK

A trial date for the premier suspect in the PSL spot-fixing case, Nasir Jamshed, and his two other accomplices has been announced.

Nasir, Yousef Anwar, and Mohammed Ijaz were arrested by the National Crime Agency in February last year in connection with bribing national players in Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), asking them to underperform.

The incidents took place in November 2016 and February 2017.

A case was launched against these individuals in a local court in the UK, however, all three defendants were released on bail, and are currently residing in the United Kingdom.

Their trial will begin on December 2 at Manchester Crown Court and will last up to three weeks.

All three defendants have been asked to attend the pre-trial on September 6 this year.

It is worth mentioning here that the trio pleaded “not guilty” at the same court on Monday.

Nasir Jamshed is a former Pakistani opener who has who has played two Tests, 48 ODIs and 18 T20Is for Pakistan. He is also facing a ten-year ban from Pakistan Cricket Board against the similar charges.
