Asus has recently announced its two new mid-rangers and they are the first ones to be powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SiP 1. Asus Zenfone Max Shot and Max Plus M2 were introduced in Brazil and are a big leap in terms of smartphone design for Asus.
The new System in a Package (SiP) in both these phones takes lesser space compared to a System on a Chip (SoC) and hence, allows the phone to be thinner. All components are on a single circuit that goes onto the motherboard. The extra space can also be used for a larger battery.
Both phones have almost identical designs and feature 6.26-inch displays. The fingerprint sensor is housed at the back. Both phones come in red, black, blue and silver colors. The screens are not completely bezel-less as there’s a noticeable chin at the bottom.
The display is an S-IPS LCD panel with 1080 x 2246 resolution and 398 PPI density. Screen to body ratio comes to 81.4 percent.
Max Shot and Max Plus M2 are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon SiP 1 and are the first phones of the kind. The chipset is used in combination with 1.8 GHz octa-core and Adreno 506 GPU. In terms of processing power, the system should be identical to the Snapdragon 450.
The operating system used is android 8.0 (Oreo). This is slightly disappointing everyone expects 9.0 Pie out of the box. However, an upgrade to Android 9.0 is scheduled in the coming months.
The Zenfone Max Shot comes with 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variants.
On the other hand, the Zenfone Max Plus M2 comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB in-built memory.
ASUS Zenfone Max Shot comes with a triple camera setup and an LED flash. The primary sensor is a 12 MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The secondary sensor is an 8 MP sensor that features an ultra-wide angle of 120 degrees. The tertiary sensor is a 5 MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is a customary 8 MP one.
ASUS Zenfone Max Plus M2 features a dual sensor camera with 12 MP primary sensor and 5 MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is the same as the Zenfone Max Shot.
Both the phones feature a large battery with a 4000 mAh capacity which is fast charging enabled.
The price for Zenfone Max Shot is $352 for 3GB/32GB and $445 for the 4GB/64GB one. On the other hand, the Zenfone Max Plus M2 comes in at ~$ 339.
