The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued directions to all Large Taxpayer Units, Regional Tax Offices, and Corporate Regional Tax Offices to extend their office hours on Friday and Saturday.
The board has done this to facilitate the taxpayers in filing income tax returns and paying duties and taxes. On Friday, the offices of the tax collectors shall remain open till 8 pm while on Saturday, the tax authorities can be contacted till 10 pm.
Notably, the revenue board has issued tax notices in 6,451 cases and demanded Rs. 2.2 billion till date. Moreover, it has brought 2,671 individuals in the tax net with a recovery of Rs.1.4 billion.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) apprised the prime minister that this month, it has identified 2.7 million people who were not in the tax net despite having a high net worth.
