Shab-e-Mairaj to be Celebrated Across Pakistan Tonight

It will be the night of 27th Rajab tonight and Muslims in Pakistan will celebrate Shab-e-Mairaj to commemorate Prophet Muhammad’s (S.A.W) special journey to meet the Almighty Allah.

It was the Shab-e-Mairaj when five daily prayers were made mandatory for Muslims when Prophet Muhammad crossed the seven skies on the Buraq. The Holy Prophet first rode to Jerusalem and then ascended to the skies where he drank from the Divine fountain of spiritual knowledge to impart Allah’s messages to mankind.

Holy is He Who carried His servant by night from the Holy Mosque (in Makka) to the farther Mosque (in Jerusalem) – whose surroundings We have blessed – that We might show him some of Our signs. Indeed He alone is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

(Quran 17:1)

Also known as the Night of Ascension, Shab-e-Mairaj is celebrated each year with religious fervor and Muslims perform Ibadah or worship Allah after Isha prayers till Fajr. Mosques around the country hold special events to gather the faithful for the special night and ask for forgiveness.

The mosques and streets are illuminated at night to welcome the auspicious night and sermons are held throughout the night about the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).

Twitter is swarmed with messages of Shab-e-Mairaj. Let’s have a look at what the people are saying:

The night of forgiveness.

The night journey.

The night holds a special place in Islam.

Shab-e-Mairaj Mubarak.
