Pretty much like an everyday thing now, out comes another entry-level Chinese smartphone with a modest price tag. But this time, the bezels appear to be thicker compared to the rest.
The HD+ IPS display has a pixel density of 295 pixels per inch. The 5.7-inch screen might come off as large to some, but it is actually on the smaller side in comparison with recent smartphones.
There’s no fingerprint sensor anywhere on the phone, which is actually disappointing to see in 2019. But Huawei made sure to add a face unlock to save the day.
The available colors for the phone are Black, Blue, and Gold.
There’s 3GB of RAM onboard with the storage and a Quad-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The 64GB of storage space available on the phone can be further upgraded by adding a microSD card into the dedicated slot.
The 8s brings you Android Pie (9.0) right out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI skin.
The 13MP primary camera might not be much, but then again, this isn’t a high-end phone. That said, it does have an artificial background blur for your portrait mode shots.
The 5MP front cam is equipped with an LED flash which helps with both selfies and video calling somewhat.
Given the specifications and a cheap price tag of just $131, the 3020mAh battery that comes with the 8s is not too shabby.
There’s, unfortunately, no fast charging on it, but it shouldn’t have a problem with keeping the phone going for longer than a day
