When is Ramadan Expected to Start in Pakistan?

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a statement saying that the Ramadan 2019 moon is most likely to be sighted on Monday, May 6 after Maghrib.

“The first Ramadan 2019 is expected to fall on Tuesday, May 7,” the statement said.

According to their prediction, the new moon of Ramadan will be born on crossing conjunction point at 03:45 on May 5 and that there was no chance of moon sighting on the evening of May 5 (29th of Shaban), as per astronomical parameters.

The PMD experts believe that the chances of a moon sighting on Sunday are minimal because the new moon will be just 15 hours and 18 minutes old by the time and only seven degrees above the horizon.

However, the hilal crescent can be sighted till 7:33 pm on Monday, met office said.

It further added that the weather in most parts of the country is expected to be either clear or partly cloudy on the evening of Monday.

Meanwhile, Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, etc., are most likely to observe first Ramadan on Monday, May 6.

While, neighboring countries including Bangladesh, India, and Afghanistan will depend upon the moonsighting, expected on May 6, just like Pakistan.
