Govt Promises Load Shedding-free Sehri & Iftar

The Minister for Power Omar Ayub has announced that there will be no power outages across the country during Sehr and Iftar for the month of Ramadan.

The minister made these remarks on Friday while briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Power.

The Senate body praised the performance of the power ministry and appreciated its efforts to provide relief to the people.

Omar Ayub assured the committee that there would be no load management during Sehri and Iftar.

The minister told the Senate committee that they are replacing faulty transformers and the out of order devices are being sent to pre-registered workshops for repair.

He told the Senate body that line losses in HESCO have marginally reduced in the last two months and vowed to launch a crackdown against the mafia that had been involved in irregularities.

Omar Ayub said the solarisation of tube wells in Balochistan is on his priority list and that the ministry will take necessary steps in this regard.

The session also discussed the matters of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Pipeline (Tapi) and AMI Electric meters.

The minister informed the committee about various renewable energy projects that the government believes can deal with the power crisis in Pakistan.

Senator Nauman Wazir Khattak presided over the meeting that was also attended by Senator Sirajul Haq, Senator Faiz Muhammad, Senator Shahzaib Durrani, Senator Moula Bux Chandio – and senior officers of Nepra and the Ministry of Power.
