The government will provide relief to 75 percent of the electricity consumers to help the low-income population in the upcoming budget.
Punjab’s Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht made this announcement while adding that the government is planning to increase the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) by Rs. 80 billion.
The provincial minister was addressing the seminar on ‘Role of Media in Investment Promotion’ and the oath-taking ceremony of the office-bearers of the Lahore Economic Journalist Association.
The minister said that the Punjab government is focusing on engaging the private sector in the development of the province. It has prioritized public-private partnership projects in the upcoming budget, he added.

However, these projects will not be included in the Annual Development Plan (ADP), said Bakht. He said that the private sector should lead the economic growth, as it is the engine of growth, while the public sector engages in social sector development.
Bakht underlined that local and foreign investments are important for an economic revival. He lauded the government and the security agencies for creating business-friendly policies and ensuring the security of the public and investors.
