Lawyer Sentenced to 18 Years in Jail for Throwing a Chair at The Judge

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has sentenced a lawyer to 18 years and six months in jail for attacking a civil judge in Faisalabad.

Apart from the prison term, the court also fined advocate Imran Rs. 250,000. The court gave a sentence for five years in two sections, two years in three sections, one year in two sections, and six months in one section. The sentences will continue concurrently.

On hearing the verdict, the lawyers gathered at the ATC. They tried to enter the court, but could not get inside.

Advocate Imran had thrown a chair at senior civil judge Khalid Mahmood Warriach on April 25 at court during an argument, leaving the judge injured.

The judges protested against the attack and the police arrested the lawyer. A case was filed against him in the anti-terrorism court.
