Ex-MD of OGDCL Joins Pakistan Refinery as CEO

Former Managing Director, Zahid Mir, of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has joined Pakistan Refinery Limited as the Manager and CEO of the company.

According to the notification to the PSX, the company made an announcement that Zahid Mir will be joining the company with effect from August 1, 2019 for a period of three years in place of Aftab Husain.

Zahid is joining Pakistan Refinery after having served as Managing Director and CEO of OGDC for four years. He handed over his resignation from OGDC during the start of the week.

He resigned from these positions on Monday after National Accountability Bureau initiated an investigation against him, questioning his appointment as the CEO of the company. His placement in the Exit Control List also contributed to his decision to resign.

OGDC’s Board of Directors has accepted Mir’s resignation and his final day as MD will be July 31.

Zahid Mir is a Petroleum Engineer with over 27 years experience in the oil and gas industry with assignments relating to onshore and offshore operations having been involved at a senior level in all stages of upstream operations.  He has done his B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering in 1986 from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Preston University, Islamabad.

Zahid Mir is also a director on the board of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL).

Furthermore, the notification read that considering, ex-CEO Husain’s experience of Oil Industry in general and refining in particular, the Board of Directors have already made him a member of Board of Directors of the company effective April 26, 2019.
