Comsats University to Spend Rs 1 Billion on Artificial Intelligence Development

To foster a culture of world-class higher education in Pakistan and to keep up with the modern trends in technology, Comsats University Islamabad has launched a Rs 1 billion project on Artificial Intelligence. The project is likely to begin next year and the authorities have already started purchasing the equipment.

According to the reports, the project is dubbed as the brainchild of Comsats Rector, Raheel Qamar.

The project will be run by a consortium of 6 universities including Punjab University (PU), NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, University of Engineering Technology (UET) Peshawar and Lahore, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Comsats University Islamabad.

A total of 9 state-of-the-art laboratories will be established across four cities including Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Lahore in the initial stages. The labs are aimed at promoting modern subjects like big data analytics, cybersecurity, e-gaming, artificial intelligence, and others.

Last year, the government had allocated over Rs 1 billion for the promotion of AI with the help of these 6 universities.
