Samsung is taking the wraps off of its flagship Galaxy Tab S6 with some serious improvements over its predecessor. The tab series is built on the idea that a non-Apple tablet can serve as a convertible laptop.
The tablet is faster, considerably slimmer and the stylus is handier. Even though Tab S6 does not replace the iPad Pro, it does offer a cost effective yet premium replacement.
Design and Display
Appearance-wise, this tablet is by far the most appealing in the series. Surprisingly, it has a dual-sensor camera at the back, which is an upgrade over its predecessor, the rest of the back has a plain metallic finish.
Towards the front, Tab S6 has relatively large bezels at all sides with the forehead bezel housing the selfie camera. This is probably to make it easier to hold on all sides as small bezels on a tablet make it impractical.
On the display front, the tablet features a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with 2560 x 1600 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio to make it productivity friendly. The overall pixel density is 287 ppi.
Internal and Storage
Internally, the device is powered by the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset topped with 6 GB or 8 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB built-in storage. If that is not enough, the tablet also has MicroSD card support.
Apart from this, Samsung has added quad speakers to the tablet, tuned by AKG and Dolby Atmos. Software-wise, It runs on One UI flavored Android 9.0 Pie.
Most of the time, tablets are lacking in the camera department but Samsung is breaking that stereotype as well.
Galaxy Tab S6 comes with a 13 MP main sensor paired with an ultra-wide sensor. Towards the front, it has an 8 MP single sensor shooter. According to Samsung, this is the first tablet with an ultra-wide camera.
Battery and Pricing
The tablet features a modest 7040 mAh battery and the stylus holds a small 0.35 mAh charge which is enough for at least 10 hours.
The basic variant of the tablet is available for sale at $649 while the specced-out variant is available at $729.
