Vivo launched its latest mid-range offering in China yesterday, called Vivo Z5. The smartphone is a slightly upgraded version of the Vivo Z5x launched in May this year.
The new model comes with a better processor, a better camera and an under-display fingerprint reader. Apart from this, other features are mostly borrowed from Vivo Z5x.
Vivo Z5 has a glossy finish on the back, apart from the triple sensor rear camera vertically aligned in its side, there’s nothing else on the back, since the fingerprint sensor is now under the display.
At the front, it has a waterdrop notch on the display, with a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED screen featuring 1080p resolution and 404 ppi pixel density.
All things considered, it looks pretty generic.
Towards the innards, it has a Snapdragon 712 chipset coupled with 6 GB or 8 GB RAM and storage options ranging from 64 GB all the way up to 256 GB.
The smartphone is currently available in 4 variants:
On the software front, it runs Funtouch OS flavored Android 9.0 Pie.
The key selling feature of this smartphone is its camera. At the back, it has a triple sensor camera with a 48 MP main camera, an 8 MP wide-angle lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor. The rear camera has dedicated night mode optimized for low light photography.
On the front, the smartphone comes with a 32 MP camera housed in the waterdrop notch.
Battery wise, Vivo has kept things top-notch. The whole package is fueled by a 4500 mAh battery backed by 22.5W fast charging. It also has reverse charging for times when you need a power bank in handy.
The smartphone is currently available for sale in China, we don’t know when the smartphone will launch globally. Prices for different variants are:
