IT Ministry to Launch a Web Portal In Partnership With Finland University

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has chalked out a plan to launch a web portal that will enable young IT experts to share their creative ideas.

The initiative aims to invite the youth to come forward with their IT related ideas through this web portal and create a bank of ideas for the development of this sector and country at large.

Around 25,000 IT graduates complete their education every year in the country, however, only 5000-6000 graduates get jobs due to the gap in industry and academia.

Under the initiative, IT-related courses will also be offered through a web portal from Virtual University, especially to the youth of far-flung areas.

The Ministry has almost finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Finland University to make an international standard Virtual University.

The Ministry is also mulling to establish IT Regulatory Authority on the pattern of PMDC to regulate IT-related education and introduce a standard for IT graduates and certificates holders. The arrangement to set up IT Park in the federal capital and Special Technological Zone has been finalized and their construction will soon be started.
