Careem Silently Reduces Discounts on Ride Packages by Up to Rs. 30

Three months after increasing prices of the ride packages, Careem has silently jacked up the rates again.

In July this year, the company almost doubled the prices of its Budget Packages, and now, the country’s leading online ride-hailing service has further reduced the discount on its ride packages.

The three-ride packages that previously saved flat Rs. 120 per ride now offer a discount of Rs. 90-110 per ride.

After the reduction in discounts, the new prices are as follows:

  1. Rs 249 3 rides – Rs 110 off per ride
  2. Rs 449 6 rides – Rs 105 off per ride
  3. Rs 649 10 rides – Rs 100 off per ride
  4. Rs 999 20 rides – Rs 90 off per ride
  5. Rs 1999 50 rides – Rs 90 off per ride

While most of the old packages were available for 14 days, all new packages will have 30-day validity. Moreover, Careem has also introduced 300 rides packages which is available for Rs. 6,999.

However, there seems to be a bug in the Careem app as it shows “Rs. 0” discount on the 300-ride bulk package.

Note that the previous Budget Ride Packages cost the same but offered more value for the money.

Here is how much the new Budget Packages previously cost, offering a flat Rs. 120 discount on each ride:

  1. 3 rides for Rs. 249 (14 days)
  2. 6 rides for Rs. 449 (14 days)
  3. 10 rides for Rs. 649 (14 days)
  4. 20 rides for Rs. 999 (30 days)

Further, the company has also increased the rates for its Kilometers packages.

Careem’s updated Kilometres Package:

  1. 75km for Rs 1999
  2. 160km for Rs 3899
  3. 340km for Rs 7499

Here is what Careem previously offered:

  1. 100 kilometer — Rs. 2,300
  2. 200 kilometer — Rs. 3,440
  3. 400 kilometer — Rs. 8,100

  • Yes, There is no consumer Rights Protection in Pakistan, I’m daily Careem user & also noticed this issue.

Furthermore, in my app only 3 packages are showing.

  • They have further reduced their packages from 160 km in Rs. 3899 to 110 km in Rs. 3899. This piece of article by Mr. Raza Rizvi must be 2 to 3 months old, as I’ve taken the above mentioned 160 km package a month ago. And now they have changed it. And I think same goes for Other careen Packages as well.
Any way thanks for the information. I read your articles and they are mostly very very informative. Do keep up the good work.

  • Yes Raza, Me and my office colleagues are regular users of Careem. They didn’t just reduced the discounts but have also increased the waiting and starting charges and also they have removed Bike from their packages which have made us to stop using Careem. Careem costs more than regular taxi or auto rikshaw now.

  • You can’t even call their helpline any more :) they’ve removed it. The only way to contact careem (even in a ride now) is via chat.

  • bhai rates check karo, jo rates aapne packages ke diye hian current woh bhi old hai. I just purchased 110km in 3899 last week. Old info na do, baki article acha hai prices double check kar ke update kardo.

  • Uber and Careem have certainly made our lives easier. We no longer have to worry about the needless arguments over location, price and comfort. However, there will be occasional incidents both on the customer and captain/service side. I trust the respective managements will take the right action.

On the same note, we also need to be mindful that these ride hailing services have impacted the transport mafia and they will do things to give these companies a bad name.

  • I am a vendor of careem. They are like a mafia now. They are charging 40% from us in some rides without giving any explanation. There is a need of another 2-3 local ride hailing services to prosper in Pakistan. Uber owns careem but they work separately but still profit goes to one place so some local ride hailing company needs to work seriously.

  • I am a regular careem package user and careem has raised their prices instead of reducing. The package of 7499 was giving 400KM which is now reduced to 340 and 400KM package was giving 500KM in same amount. This is so cruel to reduce straight 100KM and I am really disappointed.

  • That’s why i moved to Roamer (www.roamer.pk). At least i know exactly how much i will have to pay before the ride starts. But i am not sure if they are available outside the Islamabad and Rawalpindi area
