Special Communications Organization (SCO) has sponsored the first-ever Islamabad Art Festival 2019 (IAF-19) held at PNCA. The festival, that has already started, will end on 30th November 2019, showcasing multiple art and cultural performances.
SCO, a leading integrated telecom operator in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, has been actively playing a role in various cultural activities and also creating a healthy and conducive environment to groom and explore the talent from these remote areas.
SCO pavilion opened for the public at Sir Syed Memorial Complex on 19 November 2019 showcasing different stalls of regional food and handicrafts representing the traditional culture of the Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Different artists from AJ&K and GB are also participating to showcase their talent.
Earlier this year, SCO organized a painting exhibition for students from AJ&K and GB in Islamabad with the first lady as Chief Guest. The talented students were introduced at the national level. Subsequently, a Photography Exhibition has been planned at the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) Islamabad to give exposure to young photographers in December 2019.
In the IAF 2019 grand opening, high profile dignitaries visited SCO pavilion and appreciated SCO for promoting talent from far-flung areas of AJ&K and GB at the national level. The stalls were spectated by a large number of guests who visited the IAF during the last 3 days. The visitors thoroughly enjoyed various engaging activities organized by SCO.
As part of IAF 2019, SCO has also announced “Video Making Contest” with the theme of “My Land My People” to encourage talent of AJ&K and GB. SCO will facilitate the competition by shortlisting the winners.
The format has been kept very simple, as it’s an open competition for all ages. Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of IAF 2019.
