Confirmed: OnePlus 8 to Have a 120Hz Screen

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has recently confirmed via Weibo that the company has completed research and development for a 120Hz display. The Chinese phone maker is hosting an event named “OnePlus 2020 Screen Technology Communication Meeting” where they plan to showcase their new display technology.

The event took off today at Shenzhen B.Park bloom garden at 11 am (Pakistan time). More details will soon surface as the event progresses.

Unfortunately, there are no further details available yet, but it is worth noting OnePlus doesn’t manufacture displays itself, so it is probable that they were provided by a major supplier such as Samsung.

OnePlus 8 Rumored Specifications

The 120Hz display will likely be a part of the upcoming OnePlus 8 series. These phones will also include the option to switch between 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz screen refresh rate.

The OnePlus 8 is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It may have a 4000-4500 mah battery with 50W Super Warp Charge.

The camera department will reportedly be powered by the Sony IMX686 64 megapixel sensor. It is expected to be accompanied by a 20-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera. This setup may also feature the disappearing camera lens technology that the company showcased at CES.

The OnePlus 8 series is expected debut in May this year since that is when the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 7 became official.
