Xiaomi’s gaming-oriented smartphone series is getting a refresh soon with the addition of Black Shark 3 later this year. Just like its predecessors, the Black Shark 3 is also expected to feature flagship-grade specifications but with the addition of 5G.
The phone’s battery specifications have just been revealed by the company’s brand manager on Weibo. His post includes a poll that effectively confirms that the Black Shark 3 will have 65W fast charging on a 5000 mAh battery.
In his post, he asks which combination of battery charging + capacity + cycles would be the best for a modern 5G gaming phone, clearly hinting at what combination the Black Shark 3 would feature. It also reveals that the phone will only need 38 minutes to charge from 0-100% and will be able to last through 800 charge cycles.
The first option indicates the battery setup on the upcoming Black Shark 3 since all other options already exist on other smartphones. The Huawei Mate X has 55W fast charging on a 4500 mAh cell, the Oppo Reno Ace features 65W fast charging on a 4000 mAh cell, and the Vivo IQOO 3 will come with a 4440 mah battery and 55W fast charging.
All of these smartphones are limited to 600 charging cycles, but the Black Shark 3 will top them all with 800 cycles, at least according to Xiaomi.
The Black Shark 3 5G is expected to feature the Snapdragon 865 SoC, QHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 256/512GB UFS 3.0 storage, and 16GB LPDDR5 RAM.
