The OnePlus 8 Pro’s camera is undoubtedly one of the best amongst flagship smartphones this year, but the fact that it can also see through objects was certainly unexpected.
According to a Twitter user Ben Geskin, the OnePlus 8 Pro’s camera can see through some plastics using the sensor’s color filter feature. In his video, Geskin was able to see through the Apple TV box using a particular color filter in the camera app.

His tweet quickly led to other users attempting the same feat to test Geskin’s findings. Numerous others were able to replicate the phenomenon before uploading it online. Publisher Digital Trends was one of the many that tested the hidden feature and shared it on its website.
Digital Trends was able to see through a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller using the same “Photochrome” feature in the camera app. According to them, the color filter can only see through plastics that don’t come with infrared shielding. However, the camera can detect infrared LED lights that are normally not visible to the naked eye.
Although this is not a groundbreaking feature and mostly impractical, it still is fascinating to be able to see through objects with just a smartphone camera.
