Local Flights Resume With Higher Ticket Prices

Domestic flights by local airlines have resumed after over a month of stoppage with PIA commencing flight operations from Saturday.

The national airline operated two flights from Karachi to Lahore and Islamabad and another from Lahore to Karachi. The flights were only resumed after Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were decided including that each alternate seat will be left empty, this has been done to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Although, this has increased the cost of tickets as the burden of the empty seats is being imposed on the people. According to the PIA website, a one-way flight from Karachi to Lahore is priced at PKR 21,815 and the same is the case for Karachi to Islamabad.

The national airline will also be operating flights from the airports in Peshawar and Quetta. It is noteworthy that despite the fact that the government hasn’t issued a notification, travel agents in Karachi have stated that they will reopen their offices from Monday (Today).
