Another passenger aircraft was hit by a bird at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to details, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight returning from Sharjah was struck by a bird when it attempted to land at the airport. However, the pilot managed to land safely.

No casualty was reported during the incident, though one of the engines was damaged due to the birdstrike and PIA engineers are repairing it.
This is second such incident in the last 48 hours as another passenger plane was hit by a bird at Lahore airport on Saturday.
The airport authorities said that flocks of birds are heading towards the airport due to heavy rainfall. They noted that some planes have been delayed as a security measure.

The airport manager said that the captain of PK-6202 reported the presence of birds around the runway. However, shooters at the airport warded off the birds.
Bird strikes have now become a regular occurrence at Karachi and Lahore airports. So far, near a dozen incidents have been reported in 2020. Some of the aircraft were heavily damaged and were grounded for a longer period.
