Sindh High Court (SHC) has quashed a writ petition which sought immediate orders for concerned departments for allowing citizens to consume up to 10 grams of Charas.
According to details, a citizen named Ghulam Asghar had lodged the petition in SHC which was heard earlier today by a two-member bench.

During the hearing, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar expressed displeasure over the litigant for filing a petition of such nature.
While throwing the petition out after terming it as non-maintainable on the first hearing, Justice Mazhar asked Ghulam Asghar “do you want everyone in the country to take up hashish?”
He added that the litigant should suggest how much fine be imposed on him for lodging such a petition.
In response, Ghulam Asghar said that he is a common man who only brought a matter of public interest to the SHC, adding that authorities vex shareef log [gentlefolk] who consume the drug.

He informed the bench that many countries around the world have legalized the consumption of Hashish. Pakistan can also generate considerable revenue by legalizing Charas.
At this, Justice Mazhar suggested the litigant to relocate to one of those countries in case he wants to consume drugs, adding that Pakistan doesn’t need revenue from such means as there are numerous legal ways to increase the revenue.
