Babar, Rizwan & Hasan Make Big Strides in Latest ICC Test Rankings

Pakistan players have climbed up the ICC Test rankings after their magnificent performance in the Test series against South Africa. Pakistan whitewashed the Proteas 2-0, winning the first match by 7 wickets and the second by 95 runs, moving to fifth in the ICC Test rankings.

Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, moved up one place in the ICC Test batsmen rankings and he is now ranked at sixth in the world. Pakistan wicket-keeper, Mohammad Rizwan, also witnessed a huge leap in his ranking after a successful series against South Africa. Rizwan scored a fighting century in the second Test match to climb up 19 places. He is now ranked number 16th in the world, his career best ranking.

Hasan Ali’s man of the match performance in the second Test match also helped him climb up the rankings. Hasan picked up his first Test ten-wicket haul as Pakistan dismantled the South African batting unit. He is now ranked number 32 in the world, moving up 21 places.

Similarly, Shaheen Afridi performed amicably in the fourth innings of the second Test match, picking up four crucial wickets. He moves onto 30th in the ICC Test bowler rankings, moving up four places. Fellow fast bowler, Mohammad Abbas, who was dropped from the Test squad for the series is still ranked at number 12.

Other players who ascended in the rankings are Faheem Ashraf and Fawad Alam. Faheem’s performance with the bat in both the Tests was outstanding. He scored two half-centuires in the innings and has moved up 21 places in the rankings and is now ranked 47th in Test batsmen rankings.

Fawad’s performance in the second Test was below par, but he still managed to climb up the rankings as he is now ranked 74th in the world.

South African players also moved up the rankings. Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram climbed the batsmen rankings, while Anrich Nortje and George Linde moved up in the bowlers rankings.
