Lucky Cement has commenced its commercial operations of cement plant in Samawah, a city of Iraq, with a production capacity of 1.2 million tons per annum.
The cost of the project is $109 million. According to the stock filing, Lucky Cement has formed a joint venture with the Al-Shamookh group of Iraq to kick off the operations of the Greenfield cement plant.
The project was supposed to commence its operations last year as per its plan. However, the COVID-19 pandemic seemingly delayed the completion of the project.
Lucky Cement is already operating a cement grinding plant in Basra, having a capacity of 1.74 million tons per annum.
It is also operating an integrated cement plant in the Democratic Republic of Congo with a capacity of 1.18 million tons per annum.
The overall overseas production capacity of Luck Cement stands at 4.12 million tons per annum.
Recently, Lucky Cement Limited announced to continue expanding its cement production at its Pezu Plant by 3.15 million tons per annum, tapping into the increasing demand for the company’s product in the construction sector.
Lucky Cement is the biggest producer of cement in Pakistan, with a production capacity of over 10 million tons of cement and clinker per annum through its nine plants.
It is followed by Bestway Cement, which has an annual production of 9.84 million tons, and DG Khan Cement, which has a production capacity of 7.11 million tons per annum.
