Xiaomi is Now Allowed to Do Business in The US

Earlier this year, Xiaomi was hit with an executive order from the US Department of Defense which labeled it as a “Communist Chinese Military Company” and a threat to the US. This barred companies that had invested in Xiaomi from doing business with the Chinese brand.

In a sigh of relief, Xiaomi has finally been granted a preliminary injunction by the US District Court of Columbia. This has lifted all investment restrictions on American companies currently working with Xiaomi or wanting to work with it. This should help Xiaomi avoid the same fate as Huawei if matters got any worse.

US District Judge Rudolph Contreras expressed his doubts in favor of Xiaomi, saying that a civilian Chinese company is unlikely to pose a threat to US national security. He added that there is no evidence of Xiaomi sharing any information with the Chinese government.

Xiaomi has released a press statement to share the good news with its fans on Twitter.

In the statement, Xiaomi says that it will continue to request that the “Communist Chinese Military Company” allegation should be removed as it is volatile and arbitrary. Xiaomi also said reinstated its goal to work with global partners to bring the best products to customers worldwide.
