OPPO Patents a Microsoft Surface Pro-Like Tablet

Recently, an Oppo patent under the publication number CN112470452A titled “Mobile Terminals and Hosts” surfaced online indicating that the company is planning on developing a detachable device like the Microsoft Surface Book.

The publication details that the device has two main parts: the main body or the base of the device and the connecting display. The main body has a groove that supports the connecting display. Not many details regarding other features of the device are available in the patent. It only explains how two parts of the device will connect to each other.

OPPO Detachable Device Patent

This patent was filed by the company last year but was published only recently. Oppo has been patenting and working on a number of devices with different form factors. The BBK-owned smartphone manufacturer is reportedly working on a foldable phone as well that will break covers by the end of this year. According to rumors, there is a possibility that their first foldable smartphone could be a rollable display device.

OPPO Triple-Fold Concept Smartphone

In addition to this, a few months ago, in collaboration with the Japanese design studio Nendo, the company unveiled a new concept phone with a triple folding design. The phone’s display ranges from 1.5-inch to 7-inch, depending on the folds.

Note that a published patent does not mean that the company will actually launch a similar device.
