Apple to Launch New iPad Pro Despite Display Shortage

Mini LED displays are going to be one of the main highlights of the upcoming iPad lineup. These displays bring better contrast, color accuracy, and local dimming zones than standard OLEDs and LCDs.

Unfortunately, these displays are in short supply, but that does not mean that Apple is going to delay its upcoming flagship tablets.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is expected to unveil its 12.9-inch tablet during the second half of April despite poor manufacturing yields. In fact, one of the mini-LED panel manufacturers had to stop production due to unspecified reasons.

The report adds that Apple is expected to unveil two new tablets this month, but only the 12.9-inch 2021 iPad Pro will feature a Mini LED display. There will also be upgrades on the inside, most notably the new A14X Bionic chipset, which is said to be on par with the M1 found in the latest Macs. This chip will likely feature on both tablets.

This could be the first of many Apple tablets to feature 5G connectivity and up to 6GB RAM. The design is not expected to change much, but one tipster believes that Apple will unveil a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad 2021 family, though he did not reveal any details.

A precise launch date for the 2021 iPads is still unclear, but it will likely be unveiled over the upcoming weeks.
