Govt Teachers Likely to Get Vaccinated on Priority Basis in Punjab

Punjab’s Minister for Education, Murad Raas, revealed on Monday that the provincial government plans to prioritize the vaccination of teachers and educational staff against the coronavirus in a bid to protect them and to keep schools open.

He said that the provincial government is considering proposing the vaccination of all the eligible teachers under the current vaccination program, and also claimed that almost 127,000 teachers had been trained online during the pandemic.

He stated that the classes for grades 9 to 12 are resuming in almost twelve cities of Punjab from today, and added that if the situation is controlled, the rest of the classes will resume in phases after Eid-ul-Fitr.

Minister Raas added that the authorities have instructed educational institutions to adhere strictly to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintain social distancing, and wear face masks to curb the spread of the virus.

He suggested that since the classrooms of grades 1 to 8 will be empty, students can be spread throughout the school to maintain social distancing.

The minister reiterated that students will not be promoted without examinations this year, unlike last year.
