Telegram is Getting Group Video Calls and Screen Sharing Soon

After Whatsapp announced the change in its privacy settings, a slew of users migrated to Telegram making it one of the most popular IM applications. Since then Telegram has rolled out plenty of new features and now the blockchain-based application is working on the much-awaited group call and screen sharing feature.

Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, announced on his official Telegram channel that the platform is finally getting a group video calling feature next month, along with support for web-based video conferencing. He also talked about how they will be adding a “video dimension” to their voice chats in May and how this feature will make Telegram an even more powerful platform for group video calls.

Other features that will accompany group calls and screen sharing are encryption noise canceling, and support for desktop and tablet.

Even though Telegram is known for rolling out new features at a faster pace as compared to its predecessors, it lagged when it came to introducing a group chat feature. Moreover, Telegram is already known as one of the most secure IM apps, yet it is rolling out a new encryption feature. This looks more like a strategic move since WhatsApp’s new privacy policy is also going into effect next month. We are all aware of how not a lot of people are happy about that.

The new features will make their way to both iOS and Android next month.
