The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has released car sales data for April 2021. The data has shown an interesting trend this month as the auto industry has recorded 17,233 vehicle sales in April of 2021, resulting in a Month-on-Month (MoM) decrease of 17.2 percent compared to March 2021, after several months of increase in sales.
The data shows that Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) sold 5,355 vehicles in April 2021, recording an MoM sales decrease of 20 percent. Honda Atlas Cars sold 2,287 vehicles the previous month, recording an MoM sales decrease of 27 percent, whereas Pak-Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) recorded an MoM sales decrease of 15 percent.
As per reports, KIA Lucky Motors also observed a decline in sales, recording an MoM decrease in sales by 16 percent, having sold between 1800 and 2000 units during last month. Hyundai Nishat sold 896 units in total last month, recording an MoM sales increase of 23 percent.
Furthermore, note that the YoY changes have not been mentioned this month, which is because, in April of 2020 during a worldwide lockdown, none of the automakers sold any units in the market.

Reports suggest that the vehicle sales have gone down due to certain hiccups in the supply chain for all car companies as well as due to Ramadan. However, despite the slight slump in operations and the high prices of the vehicles, the auto industry, on the whole, has seemingly done well in terms of sales in the month of April.

Secondly the decrease is due to the anticipated waver of 7% on Tax; so people are waiting for the Govt decision.
thirdly Steel prices have increase in International Market as China has waved off rebate of 13%.. so prices are likely to go up ( this information has not tickled down to the consumer yet; may be this week) so it is expected that car prices will further go up. Hence creating more rooms for the second hand car category.
