OnePlus has officially unveiled Nord 2 as its newest affordable flagship phone on the market. While most retailers are in the dark about the phone’s international release date, a few experts hint that the phone will hit the markets as early as 28th July 2021.
Unlike last year, OnePlus Nord 2 is packing some serious upgrades, with terms such as “flagship killer” making headlines for the first-ever OnePlus phone that comes with a MediaTek Dimensity SoC offering.
For starters, the OnePlus Nord 2 has an impressive spec sheet. Perhaps the most interesting feature is the main camera sensor on the back, which is a 5oMP Sony IMX 766 shooter just like on the brand’s premium OnePlus 9 Pro model.
The OnePlus Nord 2 has a 6.43-inch AMOLED 90Hz display with FHD+ resolution and a cornered punch-hole camera. The fingerprint sensor is an in-display offering as expected, and there’s a massive camera bump on the back, which sports 3 lenses.
The phone features the high-end MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI SoC which offers flagship level performance matching Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870. This is paired with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage.
The Nord 2 will boot Oxygen OS 11.3 with Android 11 fresh out of the box, and OnePlus has promised coverage for two big android updates and three years’ worth of security patches.
The primary camera setup comes with a 50MP Sony IMX 766 sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP monochrome sensor. This setup is loaded with a variety of camera features and can record 4K videos at 30 FPS.
The front-facing punch-hole camera is a 32MP shooter.
The 4,500mAh battery onboard Nord 2 should be able to two days of usage on a full charge, alongside support for 65W fast charging.
The base model OnePlus Nord 2 will initially go for sale in Europe for €399 and India for INR 27,999 on 28th July, rising to €499 for a 12GB RAM/256GB version in Europe.
