The federal government has urged telecom operators to accelerate the rollout of 5G services in Karachi with more 5G infrastructure to match the city’s profile.
Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology today, Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima said telecom companies had committed to launching 5G services in five cities during the first year of deployment.
She emphasized that Karachi should receive greater priority as the country’s biggest metropolitan area.
Committee Chairman Syed Amin Ul Haque also called on telecom operators to increase the number of 5G tower sites in Karachi to improve next-generation mobile coverage.
During the meeting, the PTA chairman said telecom companies are not only expanding Pakistan’s 5G network but are also exporting 5G equipment, alongside ongoing investment in domestic telecom infrastructure.
