Muzaffargarh’s health department along with civil administration has decided not to treat patients who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Speaking with the media, MS DHQ Hospital Muzaffargarh, Dr. Iqbal Mehr, said that it has been observed that most COVID-19 patients admitted to the hospital recently were unvaccinated, and no more unvaccinated general patients will be treated at the hospital from now on.

Dr. Iqbal added that the decision is in line with the directives of Punjab’s health ministry that ordered the administrations of all hospitals to take special measures to increase the vaccination numbers amid rising Coronavirus cases.

He said that adhering to COVID-19 SOPs and getting vaccinated is the only way to tackle the outbreak, warning that violations of SOPs and vaccine hesitancy could derail the government’s efforts to curb the spread of the virus.

Besides, Dr. Iqbal advised parents to avoid giving unhygienic beverages to children as the water used in them is mostly contaminated which could lead to diseases like diarrhea, hepatitis A and E, typhoid, and gastroenteritis.

He said children are more vulnerable to such diseases in this season as a considerable number of children infected with these diseases due to unhygienic beverages have been admitted to DHQ hospital in recent weeks.
