Govt Committed to Facilitating Poor Farmers: Finance Minister

The federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Shaukat Tarin, held a meeting with the federal Minister for Energy, Hammad Azhar, at the Finance Division to review the supply and stocks of urea fertilizers for farmers.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production gave a detailed presentation on the production of urea fertilizer and an update on the sufficient stock of fertilizer to cater to the requirements in the upcoming sowing season.

In his remarks, the Minister for Finance reiterated the government’s firm commitment to facilitating poor farmers by providing them timely inputs to boost agricultural productivity. He added that the key focus is the revitalization of Pakistan’s agriculture sector by stimulating rural productivity and farm income.

The Minister for Energy assured of full support and cooperation in the provision of the required inputs to the fertilizer plants on the occasion while keeping in view the overall position of the stocks.

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Finance and Revenue, Dr. Waqar Masood, SAPM on Food Security Jamshed Cheema, the Secretary of the Finance Division, the Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production, the Secretary of the Power Division, and other senior officers attended the meeting.
