The Islamabad police has started linking CCTV cameras of housing societies and shopping malls with the Safe City Project for better surveillance.
In a statement on Tuesday, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman, said that the move will help control the crime in the federal capital and maintain law and order.

“Because of rapid population growth, the capital police has decided to extend the scope of the Safe City Project to reduce crime in the city,” he said, adding that the police is committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens.
The IGP noted that Islamabad police good achieved results in 2021 by conducting a successful crackdown against criminal elements and brought them to justice.

“Several gangsters from other districts were also held in a joint operation with Rawalpindi police and effective action was ensured against criminal elements,” he said.
The IGP added that indiscriminate action is being taken against influential people to set a precedent that no one is above the law.
