Unvaccinated Students Can’t Take Classes or Appear in Exams: Sindh Govt

As part of its efforts to speed up the ongoing immunization drive, the Sindh government has declared COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for students of classes 11 and 12.

According to the official notification, unvaccinated students will not be allowed to get admission, take classes, or appear in any theoretical or practical exam.

Students of classes 11-12 who are aged 17 years or above will only be vaccinated after obtaining consent from their parents or guardians. For those who are aged less than 17 years, their data along with B-form should be submitted to the Directorate of College Education Sindh for vaccination in near future.

Principals of all public sector colleges in the province have been ordered to set up vaccination desks within the premises of the educational institutes to facilitate both students and teams of the Health Ministry.

In a separate development, Karachi’s private schools announced to launch a COVID-19 vaccination campaign for students aged 17 years or above. However, it was decided that only students who submit a consent certificate signed by their parents or guardians will be vaccinated.

Note that the National Command and Control Center had started the immunization campaign to vaccinate individuals aged 17 years across the country from 1 September.
